Chandigarh, August 27
National Students’Union of India (NSUI) and Youth Congress on Thursday staged their protest against the JEE and NEET exams. The NSUI members of Punjab University held a havan in Chandigarh and Youth Congress members tried to do gherao of the house of MP Kiran Kher while protesting against the exams. They raised the demand to postpone these crucial exams for the time being.
Members of the Youth Congress said that at such a difficult time why these exams are being held. They further said that if these exams held then many candidates and their families and other people may get infected with this virus. They alleged that the government is bent on putting about 25 lakh students in danger.
Youth Congress members were holding banners in their hands to cancel the JEE and NEET exam. They marched towards the house of city MP Kiran Kher from the market of Sector-7.
As soon as the members of Youth Congress left towards Kher’s house, the police first tried to stop them. When they did not agree, the police forcefully picked them up in vehicles and took them to the police station.
On the other hand, NSUI performed a havan at Congress Bhawan in Sector-35 and were asked to stop the exam. Manoj Lubana, National President of NSUI said that “Even today when leaders are not safe from Covid-19, how can we guarantee that no student will not get infected during exams.”
