BHAGWANT MANN HANDS OVER APPOINTMENT LETTER TO 144 YOUTH IN BOI OF PUNJAB POLICE

ENVISIONS THAT THESE HI-TECH YOUTH WILL ACT AS CATALYSTS TO NAIL THE CULPRITS WHO HAD COMMITTED CRIME

PUNJAB WILL BE SOON JOINING HANDS WITH MULTINATIONAL GOOGLE TO UPDATE THE STATE POLICE ON SCIENTIFIC LINES

Chandigarh, May 18-

Reiterating that honesty and transparency is the sole benchmark of the state government, the Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Thursday said that the state government has so far given jobs to 29237 youth completely on the basis of merit.

The Chief Minister, while addressing the gathering after handing over appointment letters to 144 youth in various cadres of Bureau of Investigation in Punjab Police, congratulated the youth for becoming an integral part of the Punjab government adding that for the first time civilians have been included in the Punjab Police, as it is the need of the hour. He said that to overcome major challenges faced by society today it is imperative that the Police force is updated as per requirements in the field of investigation, science and technology. Bhagwant Mann said that it is a matter of great pride and satisfaction that Punjab Police is the best force across the country.

The Chief Minister said that the newly recruited 144 hi-tech youth will act behind the curtains to nail the culprits who had committed crime. He envisioned that it will help in enhancing the efficiency of the Punjab Police manifolds along with updating and modernizing it. Bhagwant Mann said that Punjab Police has already undertaken several operations in the last one year which are being hailed across the country.

The Chief Minister said that Punjab will be soon joining hands with multinational Google to update the state Police on scientific lines. He said that a comprehensive blueprint has been already prepared in this regard and the formal agreement will be signed soon. Bhagwant Mann said that it will help in enhancing the efficiency of the Punjab Police to tackle any sort of unforeseen challenge in the state.

Likewise, the Chief Minister said that massive efforts are being made to transform the Police stations of the state by pumping in a number of resources. He said that likewise efforts are being made to spruce up the infrastructure in terms of vehicles, weapons and others in the department. Bhagwant Mann said that as he hails from a common family and is well connected at the ground level so he is well aware of the problems being faced by the various sections of society.

The Chief Minister said that the induction of this staff in the Police force is a laudable step which will go a long way in upholding the glorious heritage of the force. He also lauded the Punjab Police for working in a team mode to maintain law and order in the state adding that the state government will not allow anyone to demoralise the state Police. Bhagwant Mann said that being a border state Punjab has to face several challenges which are tackled efficiently by the state Police.

The Chief Minister said that several efforts are being made to destabilise the state but Punjab Police has foiled all such nefarious attempts. He said that the state government is making concerted efforts for the welfare of the Punjab Police personnel who are discharging their duties efficiently. Bhagwant Mann said that the state government is working on modalities like holidays and others to distress the cops.

The Chief Minister said that the state government has given jobs to more than 29,000 youth in the state adding that the state government is accomplishing the gigantic task of giving the jobs to youth in a phased manner. He said that transparency and merit are the two key pillars of this entire recruitment drive. Bhagwant Mann said that a foolproof mechanism has been adopted for the entire recruitment process due to which not even a single appointment out of these more than 29000 has been challenged so far in the court.

The Chief Minister said that the youth has given affirmative responsibility to the entire process of recruitment as they have got chances to grow and prosper. Citing an example, he said that a youth was recruited as clerk in the beginning after which he got elevated to Assistant Lineman with his hard work and later as Sub Divisional Officer (SDO). Bhagwant Mann hoped that this momentum will continue in the coming days too for the welfare of the youth and holistic development of the state.

The Chief Minister said that the state government has already decided to recruit 1800 Constables and 300 Sub Inspectors every year in Punjab Police for the coming four years to overcome the scarcity of cops. He said that as for these 2100 posts every year around 2.50 lakh candidates are expected to apply for these posts so all the aspirants will get involved in academics as well as in improving their physique for clearing the tests. Bhagwant Mann said that this is helping in channelizing their unbounded energy in a positive direction and help them in weaning away from the menace of drugs.

The Chief Minister said that with the strenuous efforts of the state government the process to reverse the brain drain from Punjab has already started. He said that now the youth of the state are becoming an active partner of socio- economic growth of the state by returning from abroad too. Bhagwant Mann said that this path breaking initiative will prove to be a milestone for transforming the state and emerge as a frontrunner one in the country.

In his address, Additional Chief Secretary Anurag Verma welcomed the newly recruited youth in the fold of Punjab government.

Earlier in his address, the Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav said that this was a path breaking initiative aimed at strengthening the scientific investigation in Punjab Police.
