Chandigarh, August 28: Punjab Vigilance Bureau, today nabbed a revenue Patwari posted at halqua Devidas, Tehsil Mukarian, Hoshiarpur district red handed while accepting bribe of Rs 45,000.
Disclosing this here today, an official spokesperson of the Vigilance Bureau (VB) said that accused Patwari Jatinder Behl was nabbed red handed on the complaint of Avtar Singh of village Pota, in Hoshiarpur district. The complainant has approached the VB and alleged that the accused Patwari was demanding Rs 50,000 for getting mutation of his land and had paid Rs. 5,000 to him as first installment.
After verifying his information, a vigilance team laid a trap and the accused Patwari was arrested on the spot taking bribe of Rs. 45,000 from the complainant in the presence of two official witnesses.
He added that a case under different sections of prevention of corruption act has been registered against him at VB police station, Jalandhar and further investigation is under progress.
