Patiala,December 26, 2020-To commemorate 50 years of decisive victory of Indian Armed Forces in 1971 Indo-Pak War and mark the commencement of ‘Swarnim Vijay Varsh’, VICTORY FLAME, reached Patiala today.
Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi had handed over four Victory Flames to the veterans of 1971 Indo-Pak War at National War Memorial at New Delhi on 16 Dec 2020.
One of thoseVictory Flame moved to meerut, Dehradun, Ambala and reached Patiala on 26 December 2020. The Victory Flame was received by General Officer Commanding, Airawat Division at Patiala and a Guard of Honour was given.
The General Officer Commanding, Airawat Division, while addressing the media informed them that Airawat Divisionhad played a significant role in the Western Theatre during the 1971 Indo-Pak War.
He also added that in order to honour the contributions of our Veterans and Veer Naris, various ceremonies and events have been planned at Patiala. These will include felicitation of the Veterans, Veer Naris and War widows on 29 Dec 2020 to exhort all to reminisce the bravery and sacrifice of our soldiers during the War. In total, about 70 Veterans and awardees of 1971 War and 25 Veer Naris would be felicitated at Patiala. On 29 December 2020 the Victory Flame will move to Nabha. Similar commemorative events are also planned at Nabha.
