Chandigarh, April 26
UT recorded five more deaths and 821 new cases of coronavirus on Monday, the highest recorded on a single day so far.
The number of active cases has climbed to 5575 while the death toll has increased to 440. The caseload has risen to 39,513.
According to a media bulletin, a 70-year-old COVID positive Male R/o Manimajra, a case of Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome and Hypertension expired at GMSH-16. A 40-year-old COVID positive Female R/o Sector 52, a case of Severe Acute Respiratory Infections, expired at GMCH-32. A 47-year-old COVID positive Female R/o Sarangpur, a case of Severe Acute Respiratory Infections, expired at GMCH-32. An 80-year-old COVID positive Female R/o Sector 38 West, a case of Bronchopneumonia and Hypertension, expired at GMSH-16. A 65-year-old COVID positive Male R/o Khuda Lahora, a case of Diabetes Mellitus, Typer-1 Respiratory Failure and Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome, expired at PGIMER.
The new cases of the infection have been reported from different parts of the city and the areas around it.
Meanwhile, a total of 477 patients have been discharged including persons from home isolation who have completed 10 days and are asymptomatic, as per MoHFW guidelines.
