Chandigarh, May 28
Covid situation continued to show improvement in Chandigarh on Friday. For the first time in months, the number of fresh cases in the city fell below the 200-mark. UT recorded 161 new cases of the infection during the past 24 hours. Six patients succumbed to the infection during the same period.
The death toll in Chandigarh now stands at 735 while the caseload has risen to 59577. The number of active cases is 2758
According to a media bulletin issued here, those who fell prey to coronavirus were aged between 34 and 77 years. New cases of infection have been reported from different parts of the city and the villages surrounding it.
Meanwhile, a total of 526 patients have been discharged including persons from home isolation who have completed 10 days and are asymptomatic, as per MoHFW guidelines
