Rs. 211.22 crore to be spent on 12 projects including upgradation of state highways, major district roads and construction of new bridges: Singla

Public Works Minister Punjab Mr. Vijay Inder Singla, on Sunday, told that the Punjab Government is going to initiate upgradation of 12 major projects to improve road connectivity in the state under Central Road and Infrastructure Fund (CRIF). The cabinet minister informed that these projects would cost around Rs.211.22 crore which includes improvement of major district roads, other district roads and construction of new bridges. Mr. Singla said that following the directions of Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh, the department officials have been asked to complete the projects within estimated time limits and the quality of work would also be ensured for the optimum use of public money.
While divulging details, Mr. Vijay Inder Singla said that improvement of 23.74 km long Amritsar-Chogawan-Ranian road stretch will be done with the cost of Rs. 27.08 crore, while 40.47 km long stretch of Gurdaspur-Shri Hargobindpur road will also be strengthened with the cost of Rs. 18.57 crore. He said that in Ludhiana, upgradation of Sarabha-Raikot road, in Moga upgradation of Baghapurana-Bhagta Bhai-Nathana road and in Kapurthala upgradation of Phagwara-Jandiala road will be starting soon with the investment of Rs. 6.95 crore, 11.28 crore and 15.72 crore, respectively.
Mr. Singla said that 4-km long stretch of SH-14 which connects Malout Chowk to Hanumangarh chowk and 2.30-km stretch of major district road which connects Malout Chowk to Sitogunno, both in Abohar town of Fazilka district would be upgraded with the cost of Rs 25.02 crore. He added that apart from these road projects, two new bridges in Roopnagar and Gurdaspur district will also be constructed by investing Rs. 12.37 crore. He added that in Roopnagar, the bridge will be reconstructed on SYL canal on old Morinda-Ropar road near village Behrampur Zimidaran replacing the earlier narrow and low level bridge while in Gurdaspur, a high level bridge will be constructed over Hydel Channel at Barth Sahib.
