Chandigarh, November 6
The UT Administration has imposed a complete ban on the sale or use of crackers of any kind throughout the UT of Chandigarh.
In an order issued by Manoj Parida, Advisor to the Administrator, it was stated that these directions have been given as a containment measure to prevent the risk of spread of COVID-19, due to polluted atmosphere created by the bursting of crackers. Any violation of the orders will invite penal action under Section 51 to 60 of Disaster Management Act, 2005, besides legal action under Section 188 of the IPC and other provisions as applicable.
