-375 plants of various 38 species have been planted in an area of 140 sq.mtres in the Police Lines Mansa
Mansa 12 November-2020-Shri Surendra Lamba, IPS, Sr. Superintendent of Police Mansa told that with the help of Shri Vipesh Garg Horticulture Development Officer Budhlada, Mansa Police has planted plants in the Police Lines to develop a Miyawaki forest. In the land measuring 140 sq.mtrs in Police Lines Mansa, 38 species of plants have been planted. These plants contain fruit plants/trees, shady trees, flower plants, aromatic plants and herbals plants. In this plantation, in the 1st layer, trees having high height e.g. Arjuna, Simal and Bahedu, in the 2nd layer trees having medium height such as Kikar, Mango, Jand, Mahua, Neem, Pipal, Sarin, Amaltas, Pilkhan, Jodtod, Ber, Tahli, Kadamb etc. and in 3rd layer plants of sub-tree height e.g. Harsingar, Sukhchain, Kachnar, Maringa, Imli, Dhak, Lemon, Amla, Guava, Gudmar etc. and in the 4th range, plants of small height (shrubs) such as Phalsa, Karonda, Mehndi, NIrgundi, Chinarose, Jasmin, Curryleaf, Ilachi etc.
S.S.P. Mansa further told that this work has been started in the Police Lines Mansa by Shri Satnam Singh S.P. (H) Mansa and Shri Manoj Gorsi, D.S.P.(H) Mansa alongwith their full team since the last one month by doing day and night strenuous efforts. They have got the earth properly prepared by mixing bio-manure and jeev Amrit mixtrue prepared from cows dung/urine and the soil of old trees.
S.S.P., Mansa further said that this small forest will develop as a big forest in the very near future and will also be used as seed bank. This Miyawaki forest will be a place to live for the birds independently with easily availability of food and water. It will provide oxygen and will provide shelter to human friendly insects, butterflies and bees etc. He said that amid hard law and order duties during the critical time of COVID-19, the police personnel are providing their best help to protect the environment also. Under this campaign, more than 3000 shady and fruit trees have already been planted and now this campaign has been started today in the Police LInes Mansa and further in this campaign, Miyawaki forests will be developed in every Police station and Police Post to protect the missing kinds of trees, birds, human helping insects etc. and to create a healthy environment to develop a healthy Punjab. He appealed the public also to take appropriate steps in plantation and should sow maximum plants to protect the environment. The basic idea behind this initiative is that every police official shall cast a positive effect on the environment and their carbon footprint will be favorable to the environment.
