The flood-like situation was witnessed in Baltana on Sunday due to water released from Sukhna Lake in the morning. The Baltana police post was completely submerged where the water level reached to 5 feet. Many police files were destroyed due to this. The condition was similar in various areas of Baltana and in Panchkula. Vehicles were seen floating on roads and the situation remained critical for a few hours.
When the water level of Sukhna Lake was reached to the danger mark in the morning, the flood gates were opened at 5 am. As soon as the gates were opened, water started flowing towards the lower places swiftly. In minutes, this water from several places reached Baltana via drainage.
The Baltana police post was completely submerged. The police were seen bringing the files and other important documents out to the police post.
The policemen somehow escaped and saved their lives. The inhabitants of the area said that they have never seen such a situation before. The water kept flowing on the roads. When the water of the lake came with rainwater, the vehicles standing on the roads were completely submerged in it.
