Committee to hold first meeting on October 13
Chandigarh, October 6 : The Shiromani Akali Dal President Mr. Sukhbir Singh Badal has constituted a high level committee of the party consisting of 27 members who will ensure that Dalit community get justice in cases of injustice meted out to them and will also ensure stopping of atrocities against the community members.
Former Speaker Mr. Charanjit Singh Atwal will be Chairman of the committee.
Disclosing this in a statement released from the party head officer, the SAD Senior Vice President Dr. Daljit Singh Cheema said that during recent times large number cases of atrocities against daljits and economically weaker sections have been reported in the state. Earlier during lockdown irregularities came to light in distribution of central ration. Later names of large number of poor and dalit families were struck off from pension and blue ration cards list and now with scandal of more than Rs. 69 crore lakhs of students of dalit and other backward classes community are denied higher education and in other cases they are being denied their degrees due to non payment of scholarship by the Punjab Government. He said that case of atrocities have risen in different areas. He said that to resolve all such issued the party has constituted a committee of 27 leaders. He said that this committee will formulate plans to resolve such issues and its first meeting will be held on October 13, at 12.00 pm at party head office in Chandigarh.
Other members of committee include Charanjit Singh Atwal Chairman, Gulzar Singh Ranike, Sohan Singh Thandal, Mohinder Kaur Josh, Isher Singh all former ministers, Sant Balbir Singh Ghunnas former Chief Parliamentary Secretary, Pawan Kumar Teenu, Dr. Sukhwinder Sukhi, Baldev Singh Khair trio MLAs, Harpreet Singh Malout, Darshan Singh Shivalik, Manjit Singh Manna, SR Kaler, Darshan Singh KotFatta, Joginder Singh Jindu, Vaninder Kaur Loomba, Malkiat Singh AR, Inderiqbal singh Atwal, Prakash Singh Bhatti all EX MLAs, Darbara Singh Guru former IAS, Vijay Danav and Raj Kumar Atikay both former Chairman, Kabir Das Nabha, Harmohan Singh Sandhu, Satnam Singh Rahi, Parmjit Singh Pamma Advocate and Chandan Grewal.
