Mohali, September 25
Former DGP of Punjab police Sumedh Singh Saini appeared before the special investigation team (SIT) in Multani murder case on Monday at Mataur police station. He reached there at 11 am with two advocates. However, they were requested to stay outside by SIT for the proper investigation in the matter without any interruption. Saini was quizzed by SIT till late in the evening. Some media persons tried to ask Saini on the matter outside the police station but he did not reply to them.
Mataur police station had served notice to Saini to appear before the SIT on September 28. Earlier, he was asked to appear on September 23 but Saini did not appear. Saini was underground since SIT added Section 302 (murder) of IPC in a case and his anticipatory bail application was dismissed by the local court. However, he got relief from the Supreme Court. The Apex Court had given interim relief to Saini on the condition that he will join the investigation.
