Chandigarh, May 16:
The Water Resources Department, Punjab has announced the Rotational Programme of irrigation for the Kharif Season through canals from May 15 to 22, 2023. The channels of Sirhind Canal System would run on the priority basis from Bist Doab Canal, Sidhwan Branch, Bathinda Branch, Patiala Feeder and Abohar Branch respectively.
Disclosing this here today, a spokesman of the Water Resources department said that direct distributaries of Bhakhra Main line group ‘A’ being in the channels of first preference will run to their indent. Balanced water available will be utilized in Ghaggar Branch and P.N.C. in Group ‘B’ respectively.
The spokesman further said that all the direct distributaries of Sirhind Feeder in group ‘A’ being in the first preference will run to their indent and the balance water supplies available will be utilised in the Abohar Branch Lower off- taking from Sirhind Feeder and its distributaries/Minors in Group ‘B’.
The spokesman also said that the channels off-taking from Upper Bari Doab Canal i.e. Main Branch lower with its distributaries being in the first preference will run to their indent and balance water supplies available will be utilized in Lahore Branch, Kasur Branch Lower, Sabhraon Branch and with their distributaries respectively.
