After intervention of Punjab Women Commission, FIR Registered, Accused Arrested

The Punjab State Women Commission has taken cognizance of media reports regarding an incident in a village in district Sri Muktsar Sahib, where six daughters and their mother allegedly beaten by an individual.
Giving more information in this regard, Punjab State Women Commission Chairperson Raj Lali Gill said that an individual harassed a teenage girl in a village of district Sri Muktsar Sahib and when the girl’s family opposed him, the person assaulted the six daughters and mother. She added that after this incident, this family remained hospitalized for treatment.
Chairperson Gill said that despite the passage of time, no appropriate action was taken by the concerned police station of district Sri Muktsar Sahib. She said that after the intervention of the commission, the police has registered a case against the accused and arrested him.
The chairperson further said that any kind of crime against women will not be tolerated. She said that giving every woman her due dignity is the first responsibility of the state government. She told that the police have been instructed to provide all possible assistance to the victim’s family.
