Patiala, September 11, 2020 :
Member of Lok Sabha from Patiala and former Union Minister of State for External Affairs, Ā Preneet Kaur today held an important meeting with the representatives of various market associations of Patiala city through video conferencing and appealed to all to work together to defeat and control COVID-19 spread.
Addressing a meeting being held by the Mayor of the Municipal Corporation Sanjeev Sharma Bittu at his residence with the representatives of traders of various markets of Patiala through video conferencing, Mrs. Preneet Kaur apprised the people of the Corona Warriors, especially the doctors.Ā She also appealed not to believe the rumors being circulated about the services being rendered by CORONA Warriors.Ā She also asked the traders to take precautionary measures and also to make the general public aware of the precautions to be taken to avoid contagion of COVID-19.
Ā Preneet Kaur said that the Captain Amarinder Singh led Punjab Government is committed to win the war waged against CIVID-19 under ‘Mission Fateh’.Ā She said that the suggestions given by the Patiala traders and the issues raised by them would be taken up with the Chief Minister to resolve them as early as possible besides the issues pertaining to the Union Government would be raised in Parliament.
On this occasion, PRTCĀ Chairman K.K.Ā Sharma, Mayor Ā Sanjeev Sharma, President District Congress (Urban) Ā K.K.Ā Malhotra, Municipal Commissioner Ā Poonamdeep Kaur, Congress Trade Cell Co-President and Councilor Ā Atul Joshi, Councilor and Block President Ā Naresh Duggal,Ā Youth President (Urban) Ā Anuj Khosla, Councilor Mr. Sandeep Malhotra, Ā Vipan Sharma, President Punjab Vapar Mandal Rakesh Gupta, and others were present.
Ā Preneet Kaur said that no political party should engage in petty politics over COVID as it was a pandemic, with whom, the Punjab government was making every effort to fight.Ā She said that Government Rajindra Hospital, Patiala was prepared fully to take care of COVID patients in every possible way, so if any one could feel any symptoms of COVID, his/her life could be saved if medical help be sought immediately.
Meanwhile, the Mayor of the Municipal Corporation Ā Sanjeev Sharma Bittu thanked Mrs. Preneet Kaur and said that the representatives of Patiala Traders’ and Markets’ Associations were cooperating with the district administration and the Municipal Corporation in every aspect for curbing spread of COVID.
Ā Sharma appealed to the shopkeepers and traders to make aware the customers and general public visiting their establishments to wear masks and keep a distance to avoid COVID. He also stressed on need of segregation of wet and dry garbage to keep the city clean and tidy.Ā He also appealed to follow the instructions of the Municipal Corporation and Health Department to prevent dengue.
During the meeting representatives of Marriage Palace, Hotel, Restaurant and Catering Association, Chemist Association, Readymade Garment Association, Focal Point Association, Swarnakar Sangh, Paint, Plywood, Hardware Plywood, Books Market,Ā Sadar Bazar Crockery, Achar Bazar, Ayurvedic Association, Sweet Shops, Qila Chowk, AC Market, Gur Mandi, Shere Punjab Market, Singh Sabha Fuhara Chowk Market, Chhoti Baradri, Car Dealers Association, Punjabi Shoe Market, Plastics Association etc. apprised Mrs. Preneet Kaur of their problems and demands.
Meanwhile, the delegates thanked the Punjab Chief Minister Capt. Amarinder Singh and Preneet Kaur for extending the hours of the business and shops.Ā The traders said that they were hit by GST and denomination earlier badly and now by the lockdown of COVID, for which the government should come forward to help them, to which Ā Preneet Kaur assured thatĀ she would discuss their issues with the Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh, soon, for exploring relief measures, if possible.
She categorically expressed gratitude to the Patiala Media Club for expressing solidarity with the society by providing masks and contribution to the CM COVID Relief Fund and District Red Cross Society in these testing times.
