Will develop Chakar as boxing hub of Punjab -Sports and Youth Services Minister

Chakar (Ludhiana), November 7-
Punjab Sports and Youth Services Minister Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer on Monday said that Punjab Government would restore the pristine glory of sports in the state and concerted efforts are already underway in this direction.
Presiding over a function organized by Sher-E-Punjab Sports Academy Chakar, the Sports and Youth Services Minister said that the AAP government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann would develop Chakar as the boxing hub of Punjab as it has produced several boxing champions who have brought laurels for the country.
He said that players trained in this academy including Sukhdeep Singh Chakria, Simarnjeet Kaur, Navdeep Kaur and many more were making the country proud in the field of boxing.
He was also accompanied by Jagraon MLA Sarvjit Kaur Manuke.
Appreciating academy’s founder brothers Baldev Sidhu and the late Ajmer Sidhu to provide resources to budding players since 2006, Hayer said that the Punjab government would provide every kind of possible assistance to them so that more champions can be produced in the coming years. He said that Punjabi youth had a lot of talent but they need a platform as this academy has been giving to the young boys and girls here. He also thanked founders for ensuring all-around development of Chakar village.
The Cabinet Minister said that Kheda Watan Punjab Diyan was being organized by the Punjab government so that hidden talent of Punjabi youths could be brought out and they could be encouraged to take up sports. He said that these games received overwhelming response as nearly 3 lakh players had participated in these games.
Hayer said that every step would be taken for ensuring complete makeover of the sports’ facilities including sports infrastructure, grounds and equipment in the Punjab.
