Free Courses for Graduates from Scheduled Castes, Other Backward Classes, and Minorities

The Punjab government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, is constantly striving for the development of Scheduled Castes, Other Backward Classes and Minorities. As part of this effort, applications are invited for the Free Combined Coaching Course for Civil Services/PCS (Preliminary)-2024 Examination for graduate candidates residing in Punjab State and belonging to Scheduled Castes, Other Backward Classes and Minorities until October 23, 2023.
Divulging In this regard, Social Justice, Empowerment and Minorities Minister Dr. Baljit Kaur informed that eligible graduate candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes, Other Backward Classes and Minorities (Muslims, Sikhs, Christians, Buddhists, Zoroastrians and Jains) and residing in Punjab State can apply for the Free Combined Coaching Courses for Civil Services/PCS (Preliminary)-2024 Exam, which will commence at Ambedkar Institute of Careers and Courses, Phase 3B-II, SAS Nagar. The family income of candidates seeking admission to this course from all sources should not exceed Rs. 3.00 lakh per annum.
Dr. Baljit Kaur stated that out of the 40 seats available in the course, 50% are reserved for Scheduled Castes, 30% for Other Backward Classes, and 20% for candidates belonging to minority communities. Additionally, 30% of the available candidates in each category are women, and 5% of Disabled candidates will be included. Selected candidates will be provided with free coaching, free hostel accommodation and financial assistance as per Government rules.
Cabinet Minister mentioned that candidate selection will be based on an objective-type test of Mental Ability, General Awareness (covering History, Geography, Indian Politics, Indian Economy, Daily Science, Current Affairs, etc.), to be held at Ambedkar Institute of Careers and Courses, Phase III-B-2, S.A.S. Nagar, Mohali, on October 27, 2023, from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM. The test duration will be one hour. Candidates should bring a passport-sized photograph, a photo ID proof such as Aadhaar card, Voter card, Driving license, etc., a blue ball pen, and preferably cardboard for writing the paper, which will be mandatory at the time of the test.
She added that interested candidates can submit their applications along with self-attested copies of certificates at the Principal’s office, Ambedkar Institute of Careers and Courses, Phase 3B-2, SAS Nagar, Mohali, until October 23, 2023.
