Chandigarh, December 23:
Expressing solidarity with the Punjab farmers on three Agriculture Laws, Punjab Education Minister Vijay Inder Singla sat on one day hunger-strike on Wednesday in Sangrur. Around two hundred Arhtiyas from Punjab also accompanied Singla in this Hunger strike.
This agitation started by farmers has become a genuine mass movement and people across sects are coming on their own to support this collective cause. Arhitiyas& farmers in Punjabshare strong bonding for over hundred years. Farmer unions have also given a call for Hunger strike and we are offering our support through this move,” Singla said while talking to reporters in Sangrur.
I would also appeal the union government to call the Winter Session of Parliament and repeal these draconian laws. Since, these laws were an assault on the federal structure of our democracy, the Punjab government under the leadership of Captain Amarinder Singh had negated them but I feel this is not enough and union government must abrogate these laws completely,”Singla said. He also expressed resentment against the “vindictive IT raids” on the leading Arhtiyas of Punjab.
The central government has stooped down to gutter level of politics as they have unleashed the vindictive IT raids against the Arhtiyas who are offering their support to the farmers. BJP staying true to its divisive ideology had believed that they would divide the movement on the basis of caste, creed and religion as they usually do in other states. But they have failed miserably in Punjab. These raids were result of their frustration,” he said insisting he is proud of the fact that Punjab is leading the nation wide farmer agitation.
The Income Tax Department with help of CRPF had carried out raids against the leading Arhtiyas across Punjab last week. This laid to wide-spread protests against the central government in the state.
On this Occasion Chairman District Planning Board Rajinder Singh Raja, Chairman Market Committee Sangrur Anil Ghecha, Chairman Improvement Trust Naresh Gabha, Vice Chairman Punjab Small Industries Corporation Mahesh Kumar Meshi, Director InfoTech Punjab Satish Kansal, Senior Congress Leader Amarjit Singh Tittu, Jaspal Sharma Pali, Balvir Kaur Saini, Vijay Gupta Brahman Sabha, President Artiya Association Somnath Bansal, Binder bansal, President Punjab Congress Legal Cell Advocate Gurtej Grewal, Parminder Sharma and more Congress Leader and Artiyan Association ‘s representatives were also present.
