(Jagdeep Chopra) Patiala , August 27.The spread of infection of the dreaded Novel Corona Virus disease in Patiala district going on as on Thursday it took four more lives thus taking total number of deaths to 139.On the other hand today 181 new positive cases were also reported in the district with this total number of Corona positive patients have gone upto 5,598. Whereas under “Mission Fateh” success was also achieved with curing and discharging of 119 more patients today and it took total cured patients in the district to 3,965. The number of total active cases also rose to 1,494.The Civil Surgeon, Dr. Harish Malhotra while providing details and update about COVID-19 late this evening here told that today reports of 2,200 samples were received out of which 181 found positives. He said that these includes nine reports from SAS Nagar Mohali, one each from Sangrur, Kapurthala and PGI respectively.He added that out of these 181 new positive cases 45 found from Patiala City, 76 from Samana, 18 from Rajpura, 16 from Nabha, one from Patran and 25 from different villages and these includes two health workers. He said that shifting and contact tracing of these new cases is on as per new guidelines of COVID-19 by the government.He said that today four deaths were also reported out of these two came from Patiala, one each from Patran and Kallomajra block and last rites of these were also performed strictly as per new guidelines of COVID-19 issued by the government.He said that today 1,850 samples were collected and sent to Lab for testing and on the other hand reports of 2,600 samples are pending. He clarified that after reviewing the situation today a micro containment zone restriction imposed at Suniaar Basti, Patran was removed but at other 10 places it will continue as usual.He said that in Samana from a cotton thread factory initially three positives were detected but later flu symptoms detected in 67 more persons. He urged the industry owners to cooperate with the health department in random sample collection so that Pandemic be checked.
