Formal Launch of Smart Meters, e-Dakhila for Consumers, ‘Dhian Di Lohri’ and Distribution of Sports Kits Done
Ownership Right Is a Gift To the Slum Dwellers on The Birth Anniversary of Baba Ala Singh and Maharaja Yadvinder Singh

Applauding the initiative taken by the Punjab Chief Minister, Captain Amarinder Singh for granting ownership rights to the slum dwellers under the ‘Chief Minister’s Slum Dwellers Program’ ‘Basera’, Patiala Member Parliament Mrs. Preneet Kaur said here today, that this would enable the people of these localities to live a life full of pride and self-confidence, as they have always feared to be displaced earlier.
Presiding over a district level function in this regard with the Cabinet Minister Mr. Sadhu Singh Dharamsot at District Administrative Complex, Patiala, she said that today we are also celebrating the 330th birth anniversary of Baba Ala Singh, the founder of Patiala and the birthday of Maharaja Yadvinder Singh, the last ruler of Patiala princely state. She said that both these personalities were known in the history of Punjab and Patiala for their public oriented thinking.
She further said that the state government led by Captain Amarinder Singh and his entire cabinet deserve congratulations for always taking care of the development of Punjab and safeguarding the interests of the people while fighting with COVID. She said that today when the ownership rights were being given to the poor people across Punjab, more than 300 lucky people from the poor strata of Deen Dayal Upadhyay Nagar, Range Shah Colony and Rori Kut Mohalla of Patiala have the honour to be entitled for this.
She said that besides launching smart meters (prepaid and postpaid) all over Punjab today, online portal ‘E-Admission’ for protection of consumer rights to file their grievances in the consumer court / commission, starting of distribution of sports kits among the youth and observance of ‘Dhian Di Lohri’ were among the today’s main events. In order to maintain the interest, distribution of 2500 sports kits has been started and celebrations of Lohri of daughters have been held simultaneously in all the districts. She said that Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh deserved congratulations for his public interest thinking and she specially expressed gratitude to him for this.
Answering a query about the farmers sitting on the Delhi border, she said that they were sitting on a dharna for their rights without caring spine chilled cold and Center Government should accede to their demand of withdrawing the laws. She said that while the Punjab Chief Minister had set up a helpline for the families of the farmers, an ex-gratia grant of Rs. 5 lakh each was also being given to the families of the farmers who died during the dharna.
The Cabinet Minister for Social Justice, Empowerment and Minorities, Sadhu Singh Dharamsot said that the thinking of Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh has always been pro-people, as a result of which the slum dwellers are being provided with ownership rights. He said that the starting of giving ownership rights to the slum dwellers today was a matter of great happiness for them. He said that by giving these poor people the right to live with their heads held high today, the deep pain of these weak people has been understood by the state government.
On the occasion MP Mrs. Preneet Kaur and Cabinet Minister Mr. Sadhu Singh Dharamsot handed over ownership letters to four beneficiaries under ‘Basera’ scheme and honoured five Government Multipurpose School Girl students who participated in state level tourneys, with kits.
