Coronavirus claimed the life of an elderly patient on Thursday as the UT reported 39 fresh cases of the pandemic during the past 24 hours.
The death toll now stands at 317 while the caseload has climbed to 19, 748. There are as many as 386 active cases.
According to a medical bulletin issued hereby the Administration, a 72-year-old COVID positive female r/o Sector 44, a case of Diabetes Mellitus and Multiorgan Dysfunction Syndrome, has expired at Fortis Hospital, Mohali.
New cases of coronavirus have been reported from different parts of the city and the villages surrounding it.
Meanwhile, a total of 78 patients have been discharged including persons from home isolation who have completed 10 days and are asymptomatic, as per MoHFW guidelines.
