Chandigarh, August 19:
To ensure the maximum benefits of Sarbat Sehat Bima Yojna (SSBY) to people of the state, Captain Amarinder Singh led Punjab Government has decided to increase the health packages from 1393 to 1579 being offered under scheme to eligible beneficiaries.
Disclosing this here today, the Health Minister Mr. Balbir Singh Sidhu said that the Chief Minister, Punjab had commenced this flagship scheme on 20 August, 2019 and just in a short span of time, Punjab witnessed the block buster response under SSBY. He said that this year to further improve the scheme and provide more facilities to the beneficiaries, the number of health packages has been increased which will definitely prove helpful to provide quality health services to needy people of all sectors of society.
In terms of empanelled hospitals, Punjab is one of the leading States where 767 hospitals have been empanelled by the State Health Agency in the first year of this scheme. Secondary and tertiary care treatments are being provided free of cost to the beneficiaries in these hospitals.
Underscoring the benefits given to the beneficiaries during one year, Mr. Sidhu said that around 46 lacs E-card have been issued and 3.80 lacs patients got treatment at a cost of Rs. 453 cr. As per record, more than 6600 heart surgeries were conducted under SSBY. Similarly 3900 Joint Replacements of elderly people have been made and 9000 cancer patients got treatment during the one year.
Lauding the efforts being made by the State Health Agency, the Minister said that Punjab also became one of best performing states in the country in implementation of this insurance scheme with the highest average of 1600 admissions registered per day under the SSBY in State.
