Expenditure on renovation to be borne by HM Family

Exhibiting worth emulating rare gesture towards residents of his native village, Punjab Health and Family Welfare Minister, Dr Balbir Singh announced to convert a portion of his ancestral house into Government Health and Wellness centre during a short visit, here today.
Dr Singh who visited his his native village to meet his mother, acceding to the demand of the villagers of setting up a health institution in the village, on the spot, approved a Health and Wellness centre for the Village. With a view to giving concrete shape to his announcement, the Minister not only provided a portion of his ancestral house for the Wellness Centre but also announced to bear all the requisite renovation expenses .
He said that he and his brother had two living portions in the village, one of the portions was being used by his old age mother who did not wish to leave the village and the other portion was lying vacant. He and his brother chose to give that portion to set up a Health and Wellness centre for providing healthcare services to village residents.
He said that the mandatory addition such as the wash room and a mini kitchen besides aluminium fitting and other required renovation is going on the war path. He expressed hope that after getting a clearance from his own department for this new health institution, it will be made functional within a month.
He added that the new health and wellness centre would house a community health officer besides an ANM, a health worker and ASHA worker. The wellness and health centre would cater to the nearby residents with basic tests and check ups like ANC, special care of High Risk pregnant women besides immunisation of new borne kids. Apeart from that, patients diagnosed with TB would also be followed up. The centre will also work as a Tele medicine nodal point to get opinions from specialists.
Getting nostalgic, he said that this soil had given him a lot, from a student to doctor and now from a doctor to the health minister of state, so, I cannot repay the debt of this soil.
He was formally welcomed by the Officiating Civil Surgeon Dr Jasdev Singh and SMO Dr Niranjan Paul.
