Chandigarh, December 30, 2020: Senior Congress leader Navjot Singh Sidhu has tendered an apology for unintentionally hurting the sentiment of the Sikh community for wearing Shawl carrying religious symbol.
Sidhu has landed himself in trouble after he posted a photo on his Facebook handle on Tuesday. In the picture, the minister has draped a shawl carrying a Sikh religious symbol.
The former cricketer took to Twitter on Wednesday to give his stand on the matter and tender apology.
“Shri Akal Takht Sahib is Supreme, If I have unknowingly hurt the sentiments of even One Sikh, I apologize!!,” he posted on Twitter.
“Millions wear the revered Symbols of Sikhism on their Turbans, Clothes and even carve Tattoos with Pride, I too as a humble Sikh wore the Shawl unintentionally,” he further wrote.
