Patiala,January 16, 2021: With the formal online rolling out of vaccination drive across the state by Punjab CM Captain Amarinder Singh from Mohali, MP Mrs. Preneet Kaur kickstarted the immunisation drive in Patiala from Mata Kaushalya Government Hospital.

Interacting with media, MP Preneet Kaur said that finally, the lucky day has arrived and we are happy to have the first shot of vaccination for our health care workers.

She said that since March 2020, we all were worried and working hard to find measures for controlling this novel disease. Now, January 2021 has given us good news as the invention and trail of Vaccination succeeded and we are able to administer it.

While expressing gratitude to the Government of India for taking care of frontline workers by providing free of cost dose of vaccine for them, she made an appeal to the prime minister to also make it available for the poor strata of the society at free of cost, as they would not be able to buy due to their financial restraints.

Cabinet Minister Sadhu Singh Dharamsot who was at Mini Secretariat Patiala with MP Mrs Preneet Kaur to launch COVID Vaccination drive in the District and distribution of new Ration Depots, added that Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh has always remained one step ahead to control the spread of COVID in state, though by strict measures. Now, when the vaccine has made its way to the people, he would definitely get its access to the needy persons by his co-ordinated efforts so that no one is left behind of its use. He thanked the frontline warriors, be it health care workers, Police personnel and others, for supporting the common man in these trying times.

Deputy Commissioner, Kumar Amit who also happens to be the Chairman of District Task Force on Vaccination drive, while extending his best wishes to the health care workers for being the part of the drive, in its first phase, informed that the district has gotten 11080 vials of COVIShield Vaccine for the health care workers.

Civil Surgeon, Dr. Satinder Singh who was the among the first takers of the vaccine, said that besides him, PMC President Dr. A S Sekho, renowned cardiologists Dr. Sudhir Verma and Dr. Manmohan Singh, Dr D P Singh, Dr J P Walia, Dr Neeraj Goyal, Dr Harminder Singh, Dr Raj K Gupta, Dr M K Batish, Dr K L Batiah, Dr Vikas Goyal, Dr Sanjay Bansal have got them vaccinated so that a sense of confidence can be build among the others.

He said that it will be ensured to cover all the medical, paramedical, ward attendent and class four of all the public and private sector health employees to have the first dose in phase one. Second dose would be administered after four weeks of first dose, from the same batch of the vaccine, administered in the first phase, he added. Today, besides Mata Kaushalya Government Hospital, vaccination drive was also launched at Government Rajindra Hospital and Sub Divisional Hospital Rajpura, with a capacity of 100 people each.

Earlier, MP Mrs Preneet Kaur alongwith Cabinet Minister Sadhu Singh Dharamsot distributed new ration depots to the beneficiaries under Ghar Ghar Rozgar and Karobar Mission at Mini Secretariat Patiala. A total of 70 new licenses alloted in distrct under the Ghar Ghar Rozgar and Karibar Mission as part of statewide distribution campaign.

Prominent amongst others who were present on the launch of first phase of Covid Vaccination and distribution of Ration Depot Licenses, included, Gursharan Kaur Randhawa Chairperson Punjab Social Welfare Board, Rajnish Shorie Director Pungrain, K K Sehgal Sen. Vice Chairman Punjab Large Industries Board, K K Malhotra District Presidents Congress, Kiran Dhillon District President Women Cell and Sanjeev Sharma Youth Congress Distt President, DC Kumar Amit, ADC (D) Dr. Mrs. Preeti Yadav, ADC

(G) Pooja Sayal Grewal, Extra Assistant Commissioner (UT) Jagnoor Singh, Assistant Civil Surgeon Dr. Parveen Puri, District Immunization Officer Dr. Veenu Goyal, District Epidemiologist Dr. Sumeet Singh.
