LONGOWAL:Forests, Printing and Stationary, Social Justice, Empowerment and Minorities Minister Punjab Mr. Sadhu Singh Dharamsot paid floral tributes to Sant Harchand Singh Longowal on the account of his 35th martyrdom day. While addressing a gathering of few people, the cabinet minister said that the state government has decided to organise a simple function to mark the day as mass gatherings have been banned due to the spread of Covid-19 pandemic. He added that Sant Longowal had laid his life for the peace and prosperity of Punjab and he will be remembered by the people till centuries.
While talking to media, Mr. Dharamsot said that Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh led state government has taken effective steps to curb the spread of Covid-19 and now it is the responsibility of people to precisely follow the directions of the government to avert coronavirus contraction. He added that apart from these steps, they have also taken several noble initiatives for the overall development of Punjab.
The cabinet minister said that their government has decided to install tree guards across roads in vulnerable areas where the stray animals and other hazards were destroying saplings in the past. He added that to mark the 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev ji, more than 72 lakh saplings have been planted in the villages of the state and proper care of the plants is also being ensured. Mr. Dharamsot said that now to make the 400th birth anniversary of Guru Teg Bahadur memorable, the state government has planned to plant more than 50 lakh saplings.
On this occasion, DC Mr. Ramvir, SSP Dr. Sandeep Garg, Ms. Daman Thind Bajwa, Harmandev Bajwa, ADC (g) Anmol Singh Dhaliwal, SDM Sangrur Babandeep Singh Walia among several other dignitaries were also present.
