Punjab Minister Dr Baljit Kaur represented Punjab at the national sensitisation workshop held regarding scheme and benefits for the Divyang (specially abled people) held by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment at Indore in Madhya Pradesh. She was accompanied by a delegation of senior officers.
Various minister and officers from states and union territories attended this workshop.
The Punjab Minister for Social Justice, Empowerment and Minority Dr Baljit Kaur took up various issues related to the specially abled. She said that the schemes regarding specially abled people should be drawn in such a manner that it’s beneficiary are easily able to take advantage. She strongly opined that decisions regarding schemes for specially abled should be taken only after discussing the issues with the organisations that a working for such people.
She said that all state governments should ensure implementation of policies that can lead to economic independence of the specially abled.
Dr Baljit Kaur congratulated the union government for launching ADIP portal wearing the specially abled people across state will be able to get all facilities at a single platform.
Union Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment Dr Virendra Kumar, the Minister for State Ramdas Athawale, Prathima Bhoumik, Delhi Government Minister Rajinder Pal Gautam and other ministers from various states were present.
