Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Tuesday asked the Deputy Commissioners to maximise field visits for ensuring that benefits of pro-people and development oriented schemes are percolated to people at grassroots level.
The Chief Minister, while chairing a meeting of DCs here at Punjab Bhawan, said that the officers should make concerted efforts for ensuring that the welfare of the public is ensured through the schemes of the state government. He said that the officers must ensure meticulous implementation of these schemes for desired results. Bhagwant Mann said that he will personally monitor the implementation of such schemes at the ground level for well being of common man.
The Chief Minister asked the officers to ensure ‘Sarkar Tuhaade Dwaar’ programs in the area of their jurisdiction adding that it is a flagship program of his government for the progress of the state and prosperity of its people. He said that this program finds no parallel across the country as no other state government bothers to spare so much time for the people by solving their problems at their doorsteps. Bhagwant Mann said that this program helps in quick resolution of public problems on one hand besides judging the performance of the government officers/officials on the other.
The Chief Minister said that this pro-people initiative, stipulates that the officers especially the DCs to maximize their field visits, especially in villages, and interact with the people by going to villages. He said that it is the need of the hour to facilitate the people in getting their day-to-day works done easily besides ensuring good governance to them. Bhagwant Mann said that this will help in better functioning of the offices along with better acquaintance with the ground realities.
The Chief Minister also asked the officers to ensure zero pendency of the Driving License (DL) and Registration Certificate (RC) in their respective districts. Bhagwant Mann, while underlining the need for providing these services to the people in a time bound manner, said that people should not face any sort of inconvenience in getting their DLs and RCs. He categorically asked the officers to ensure that the backlog of RCs and DLs that had been pending because of technical reasons is cleared very soon by all means.
In order to provide smooth and hassle-free citizen services through Sewa Kendras, the Chief Minister asked the officers to facilitate the people by ensuring zero percent pendency in these services. He said that officers should ensure timely disposal of applications being filed by the citizens at Sewa Kendras. Bhagwant Mann said that a viable mechanism must be formulated from sub division level to district headquarter to daily monitor the pendency and remove it at the earliest.
The Chief Minister also asked the officers to visit the Aam Aadmi clinics under their jurisdiction and ensure quality health services to people free of cost. He said that these clinics are acting corner stone to impart world class health services to Punjabis. Bhagwant Mann said that regular scrutiny of the medical services should be ensured for the well being of the people.
The Chief Minister also asked the officers to make concerted efforts for making Punjab a drug free state. He said that zero tolerance policy must be adopted against the drug peddling in the state to wipe out this menace from state. Bhagwant Mann said that it is the need of hour to make Punjab a front ranking state in country.
The Chief Minister also asked the officers to ensure that work of flood protection is completed well before the advent of rainy season. Bhagwant Mann said that he will regularly oversee the flood protection works being undertaken across the state. He asked the officers to ensure that no loss takes place in state due to floods.
