Chandigarh, October 11:
Food and Civil Supplies Minister Punjab Mr. Bharat Bhushan Ashu today said that paddy procurement and lifting is running smoothly in the state and till October 10,2020 a total 12.58 LMT paddy lifted from Mandis.
Mr Ashu said that four State procurement agencies Pungrain, Markfed, Punsup & PSWC and Food Corporation of India (FCI) are procuring paddy of grade A at Minimum Support Price Rs. 1,888/- per quintal as per specifications laid down by Government of India.
‘’A total of 23.38 LMT paddy has been arrived till October 10 in the Mandis of the State, out of which 22.62 LMT paddy has been procured by government agencies and 0.13 LMT has procured by private traders”, he added.
Mr. Ashu said that elaborate arrangements and efforts are being made by all procurement agencies to ensure smooth procurement, lifting and payment of paddy so that farmers do not have to face any issue to sell their produce.
The Cabinet Minister Mr. Ashu urged farmers to followed all health protocols to contain the spreading of COVID-19. He said that all 4221 Mandis and procurement centres have been made operational for uninterrupted procurement.
