Mohali SSP and 2009 batch IPS officer Kuldeep Chahal will be the new SSP of Chandigarh.
His name has been cleared from a panel of three names sent to Ministry of Home Affairs.
The Chandigarh Administration had recommended the name of Vivek Sheel Soni (IPS 2011) out of 3 Punjab Cadre IPS officers for the post of SSP, Chandigarh sent by the government of Punjab. The other two officers were 2009 batch Kuldeep Chahal and 2010 batch IPS Patil Ketan Baliram AIG Intelligence Amritsar.
However, the MHA decided on the name of Kuldeep Chahal keeping in view his seniority.
The post is due to fall vacant on 22nd of August when the term of 2008 batch IPS officer Nilambari Vijay Jagdale ends. She is holding the charge of SSP, Chandigarh since August 22, 2017.
