Asks them to Ensure compensation to every Genuine Flood Victims
Chandigarh, September 26 –
Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Friday directed Commissioners of Police (CPs) and Senior Superintendents of Police (SSPs) to maintain a strict vigil on the law and order situation across the state.
Chairing a virtual meeting with CPs and SSPs, the Chief Minister emphasized the need for their close coordination with civil administration counterparts to ensure timely rehabilitation of flood victims. He stressed that relief and compensation must be provided strictly to genuine victims who have suffered actual losses due to the floods. Bhagwant Singh Mann called on the officers to work zealously to achieve this objective adding that seamless coordination between civil and police administrations for this noble task was utmost important.
The Chief Minister also advocated for the implementation of key confidence-building measures in flood-affected areas to ensure that victims receive necessary support. He directed officers to streamline relief operations so that aid reaches the victims smoothly and without any hassle.
Reiterating a zero-tolerance policy towards crime and criminal elements, Bhagwant Singh Mann urged CPs and SSPs to intensify efforts to maintain law and order across Punjab.
Meanwhile, the Chief Minister lauded the role of the Punjab Police during the flood crisis, stating that their immense contribution would be remembered in golden letters in the annals of history. He appreciated their continued efforts in the fight against drugs under the “Yudh Nasheyan De Virudh” campaign and their strong action against gangsters. He praised the Police force’s rich legacy and expressed confidence in their ability to continue safeguarding the state’s peace, progress, and prosperity by all means.
Meanwhile, Chief Secretary K.A.P. Sinha, Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav, and other senior officials were also present on the occasion.
