- Will bring IT revolution by reviving the village infrastructure
-Efforts will be made to provide affordable internet in rural areas
Amritsar, May 26: Punjab Government would set up IT Skill Centers in the rural areas of the state to prevent the youth of Punjab from going abroad and to stay here and work for foreign firms. Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal, Rural Development and Panchayats Minister after visiting the IT company Simba Cart at Tangra today said that it is therefore imperative to strengthen the IT sectors in the villages and at the same time strengthen the village infrastructure.
Dhaliwal while interacting with the media persons said that Mandeep Kaur a resident of Tangra has taken a bold step by establishing an IT cell in this town and has provided employment to the youth of the village. He said that youth from rural areas were migrating to foreign countries and the Punjab Government was trying its best to provide employment opportunities to them here.
He said that the model implemented by this daughter Mandeep Kaur in rural areas would be implemented in the whole of Punjab so that the youth of Punjab could be kept abreast of the latest technology. He said that this would give a major impetus to the rural economy.
Dhaliwal said that the newly recruited SDOs, BDPOs, JEs in the Rural Development and Panchayat Department would be sent on a tour of this centre to study this model so that such skill centers could be established in the rural areas of the state. “Our main goal is human development,” the minister said.
He said that it was the youth of Punjab who had brought green and white revolution and now Youth of the state should bring a new revolution in the IT sector. He further said that the Punjab government would provide all possible assistance to Simba Cartz for this purpose.
Responding to a question from media persons, Mr. Dhaliwal said that the Punjab government would negotiate with the companies to provide cheaper internet services in the rural areas.
On the occasion Cabinet Minister Dhaliwal presented a shawl and a memento sent by Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann to Mandeep Kaur who has taken a unique step by setting up an IT cell in Tangra and providing employment to Youth of the state.
Prominent amongst others present on the occasion included Director Rural Development, Punjab Gurpreet Singh, Deputy Director Jatinder Singh Brar, Additional Deputy Commissioner Ranbir Singh Mudhal, District Development and Panchayat Officer Gurpreet Singh Gill, Advocate and Rajiv Madan.
