Patiala, January 11,2023- “The year 2022 went off successfully for the Government Railways Police (GRP) under the able administration of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann-led state government and the supervision of Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab Gaurav Yadav said ADGP Railways Shashi Prabha Dwivedi, IPS while sharing the achievements of GRP, Punjab here on Wednesday.
According to the official data she shared with the media that total 438 cases were registered under various Sections of IPC, 267 cases were registered under local and special law and total 640 persons were arrested.”
While sharing the details of recoveries, GRP, Punjab had made throughout the year in 2022, Dwivedi said “ under NDPS Act 104 cases were registered and 91 persons were arrested and total 33.240 kg opium, 134.800 kg poppy husk, 5.370 kg of Charas, 212.980 kg of Ganja, 49,674 pills/ capsules, 720 syrup bottles were recovered from them.
Similarly, 29 cases were registered under the Arms act and 29 persons were arrested. From them the GRP had recovered 03 pistols, 01 revolver, 13 cartridges, 39 knife.
Recounting the achievements, ADGP Railways Dwivedi said 120 cases were registered under excise act and 118 persons were arrested in the year 2022.
The ADGP, Railways Dwivedi said from January 1 to December 31, 04 FIR’s of missing children were registered and 02 such children were traces, in addition to these FIR’s, about 250 children were traced from trains and railways stations who either got separated from their parents or had run away from their homes. They were handed back to their parents with the help of child help line teams.
She said, similarly, 84 PO’s (2 PO’s u/s 82/83 Cr.PC and 82 PO’s under Section 299 Cr.PC have been arrested during the year. Also Property worth Rs.41 Lac has been recovered from thieves, robbers and Dacoits during the year. In addition to above 10 Grms of Gold, 47 KG of Silver and Cash worth Rs 23 lakh has been recovered.
She further divulged that 10 Gangs were busted who were planning to conduct robberies/dacoities in trains.
