Chandigarh, April 24
UT on Saturday recorded the highest ever spike in coronavirus for a single day. The city logged 711 fresh cases of the infection in 24 hours while recording three more deaths.
The number of active cases has now crossed the 4900-mark. The death toll has climbed to 433
while the caseload has risen 37,947.
According to a media bulletin issued here, a 61-year-old COVID positive Male R/o Sector 20, a case of type-2 diabetes mellitus, hypertension and Severe Acute Respiratory Infections expired at GMCH-32. The death related to a 51-year-old COVID positive Female R/o Sector 45, a case of acute respiratory distress syndrome and Bilateral Pneumonia, expired at GMSH-16.
The third fatality was that of a 24-year-old COVID positive Male R/o Sector 25, a case of Acute Intestinal Obstruction and Pneumonia, expired at PGIMER.
Fresh cases of coronaviruys have been reported from different parts of the city and the villages surrounding it.
Meanwhile, a total of 428 patients have been discharged including persons from home isolation who have completed 10 days and are asymptomatic, as per MoHFW guidelines.
