Chandigarh, April 3, 2021:
Hoshiarpur police team led by SSP Navjot Singh Mahal and Ravinderpal Singh Sandhu, SP (Investigation) claimed to have busted a gang of international and interstate smugglers by arresting six persons in two separate cases on Friday. The police also recovered 8 kg heroin, Rs 20 lakh cash, 5 kg poppy husk and two SUVs from the possession of arrested suspects.
The suspects have been identified as Sukhwinder singh, a resident of Channanwal in Barnala, Manpreet Singh alias Kala and Jagdeep Singh alias Sony, residents of Balwera in Patiala, Surinder Singh alias Shinda, Phuman Singh alias Kaali and Shinder Pal Singh alias Shinda, all residents of Jalandhar.
SSP Hoshiarpur apprised that on Friday, a special blockade was laid by police team led by Tushar Kumar Gupta IPS, ASP Sub division Garhshankar and Prem Singh PPS DSP NDPS Hoshiarpur at Mahilpur to Phagwara road near Village Thuana. The team got secret information that a person named Sukhwinder along with Manpreet and Jagdeep is bringing a huge amount of heroin from Jammu & Kashmir in his white Fortuner. The suspects were intercepted by the cops and after conducting thorough search of the car, the police team recovered eight packets containing 8 kg herion from secret box which was designed along the radiator and placed beneath the front bonnet of the car. The SSP also informed that the Sukhwinder already had many criminal cases registered against him out of which two are under Sections of UAPA Act, registered at Delhi and Ropar. A huge amount of RDX was recovered from his possession. In year 2007, 6 Kg herion and four Pistols were recovered from him at Sidhwa Bet District Jagraon. “He is companion of terrorist Daya Singh Lahoriya. Sukhwinder Singh came out of the jail on bail in year 2019 and he often visit Pakistan for pilgrim at the holy places during which he developed the connections with drug smugglers who supplies heroin to him and he often brings the drug to India from Pakistan,” said the SSP.
During the investigation it came to fore that Sukhwinder was involved in drug smuggling with his companion Amrik Singh.
A case has been registered under Sections 21(C)/61-85 NDPS Act at the Mahilpur police station. The suspects are currently in the police custody.
In the second case, the Crime Investigation Unit of Hoshiarpur police have arrested three suspects for possessing poppy husk and drug money.
ASI Buta Singh of CIA Staff Hoshiarpur informed that on Thursday, during the Nakabandi at T-Point Garna sahib, the police intercepted a Scorpio Car in which three persons namely Surinder Singh, Phuman Singh and Shindepal were traveling. During the checking of Scorpio, Rs 20 lakh cash drug money was recovered from the stepney of the vehicle and 5 kg Poppy Husk, placed under the mate of the trunk was also recovered. A case has been registered against the suspects under Sections 15/61/85 NDPS Act was registered at the Dasuya police station.
