Expressing great concern over the conspiratorial removal of historical events, especially religious history from school curriculum, Punjab Vidhan Sabha Speaker S. Kultar Singh Sandhawan today said that this hidden agenda will deprive students from their Glorious past. He was addressing the gathering at the function, organized by the Ramgarhia Sabha Mohali, to commemorate the 300th birth anniversary of Sardar Jassa Singh Ramgarhia, the founder of the Sikh Empire and the great general of the 18th century, at Ramgarhia Bhawan, Phase 3B-1, Mohali.
The Speaker said that keeping our children connected with the glorious Sikh history is the need of the hour. If our children become good citizen by imbibing the great history and Gurbani, they will be able to overcome the rest of the stages of their life. He termed such events as a noble initiative in this direction.
Highlighting the history of Misls, S. Sandhwan said that the rise of Sikh empire was started from Sardar Jassa Singh Ramgarhia, adding that the then Sikhs was only 6 percent, thus established a huge Sikh empire and all this because of the fact that Sikhs were firm to their religion and were connected with the Gurbani.
Referring to Sardar Jassa Singh Ramgarhia’s selfless service, the Speaker said that after conquering the Red Fort in Delhi, he gave priority to build Gurdwaras instead of collecting money for himself.
The Speaker said that the valour and heroism of such heroes have always inspired us to make selfless sacrifices for the nation. He said that the great Sikh Gurus had taught us to fight against tyranny, injustice and oppression, adding that the warriors like Sardar Jassa Singh Ramgarhia had followed the footsteps of the great Sikh Gurus. He said that it is matter of great pride for us that we inherit such a glorious legacy which is unparalleled in the world.
S. Sandhwan also announced Rs.2 lakh for Gurdwara management. Similarly, MLA S. Kulwant Singh, while addressing the gathering, also spoke about various aspects of the life of the great Sikh general. He also took the responsibility of renovating the hall of Ramgarhia Bhawan.
