Union Minister lauds Punjab model of Health services & Aam Aadmi Clinics: Dr. Balbir Singh
Patiala, March 5:
The Health and Family Welfare, Medical Education and Research Minister Dr. Balbir Singh today called upon the Union Health Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya who reached Patiala and emphatically took up Health sector related issues of Punjab. Handing over a demand charter to the Union Minister on important healthcare demands of Punjab, Dr. Balbir Singh apprised him about the revolutionary steps being undertaken by the Punjab Government led by the Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann to modernize the health services in the State.
Divulging about the meeting, Dr. Balbir Singh said that the issues related to health were debated at length which elicited positive response from the Union Minister who appreciated the model being implemented by the State Government to provide quality health services to the people besides the Aam Aadmi Clinics. The Union Minister assured the speedy release of funds pertaining to healthcare sector in Punjab.
The Union Minister also accepted the demand concerning critical care units for all the Districts of the State for which a detailed proposal would be sent by Punjab. The Union Minister also assured to provide requisite funds for new medical colleges apart from controlling the prices of necessary 388 types of medicines and 42 types of anti cancer medicines.
The Union Minister also accorded sanction to the advice of the Punjab Health Minister to convene a joint meeting of the health Minister of all the States with emphasis on major reforms in the health services and medical education. The Union Minister also praised the advice regarding the special training of the staff to be deployed at the Critical Care Units with positive response to discussions on the family medicine, family physician and holistic health care including preventive care, promotion and rehabilitative services.
It is hoped that given the affirmative response of Mr. Mansukh Mandaviya, the Punjab Government would provide more quality services to the people of the State, added Dr. Balbir Singh.
On the occasion, the MLA from Patiala Ajitpal Singh Kohli was also present. Earlier, Dr. Balbir Singh and MLA Ajitpal Singh Kohli welcomed the Union Minister.
