-Orders to cancel all illegally made smart ration cards
Chandigarh, June 14:
Punjab Cabinet Minister Harjot Singh Bains on Wednesday directed the food and civil supplies department of District Rupnagar to review the disconnected beneficiaries of smart ration cards in Anandpur Sahib Assembly constituency, aiming to ensure that eligible beneficiary will not remain deprived of the benefits of government welfare scheme.
The move came after the matter of deduction of smart ration cards of the eligible people of Anandpur Sahib Assembly constituency has come to his notice of the minister bains and taking swift action into the matter, Mr Bains held a meeting with the District Food and Civil Supplies Controller Smt. Navreet Kaur in this regard and issued direction for a review of cards.
During the meeting, he directed that all the smart ration cards that have been deducted in the area falling under the Assembly constituency Sri Anandpur Sahib should be reviewed immediately and if the card of any eligible beneficiary has been disconnected by mistake, then it should be restored. So that the benefit of this scheme launched by the government in the public interest can reach the real beneficiaries.
He also appealed to the residents of the constituency to complain to the Food and Civil Supplies Department if any ineligible person from their neighbourhood is getting the wrong benefit of this scheme. He also said that the details of the complainant will be kept absolutely confidential. Mr Bains appealed to the eligible persons whose cards have been disconnected to submit the application for restoration of their cards to the concerned department at the earliest.
