Patiala, April 23:
Punjab Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr. Balbir Singh stated that the sweeping transformation in government schools over the past three years has made them the preferred choice for parents—evident in the consistent rise in admissions. He shared these remarks while dedicating newly completed development projects in four schools of the Patiala Rural constituency to the students.
Highlighting the government’s commitment to educational reform, Dr. Balbir Singh credited the visionary leadership of Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann and Education Minister S. Harjot Singh Bains. He noted that government school teachers are now being trained in countries such as Singapore and Finland to equip them with advanced teaching methodologies. Additionally, students are being taken on educational tours to prestigious institutions to broaden their outlook and encourage goal-setting.
Dr. Balbir Singh emphasized the significant changes in the learning environment, stating, “From blackboards to digital screens, our students now learn through modern tools, which has greatly enhanced their confidence and engagement.” He reiterated that the Punjab Government firmly believes education is the foundation of a progressive society and is consistently working to elevate educational standards across the state.
Urging students to set clear goals, he encouraged them to work diligently toward their aspirations. He also called upon teachers to act as mentors and guides, helping students remain focused and inspired throughout their academic journeys.
Dr. Balbir Singh pointed out that Punjab is the first state in the country to deploy campus managers and security guards in government schools. The state government is currently allocating over ₹200 crore annually for the upkeep and maintenance of school infrastructure, ensuring a safe and supportive learning environment for students.
While reviewing student-led exhibitions, the Minister lauded the innovative Business Blaster scheme initiated by the Punjab Government. He said the program is nurturing entrepreneurial skills among students and laying a strong foundation for future business leaders.
As part of the ongoing Punjab Sikhya Karanti, Dr. Balbir Singh inaugurated development works worth lakhs of rupees at the following institutions: Government Senior and Primary School Tripuri, Government Primary School Jhill, Government Senior Secondary School Chalaila, and Government Primary and High School Factory Area.
On the occasion Deputy D.E.O. Manvinder Kaur, Jasbir Singh Gandhi, Balwinder Saini, Jai Shankar, Principal Dr. Narinder Kumar, Sukhdeep Kaur, Karmjeet Singh, Gurmukh Singh, Sukhvinder Singh, Malvinder Kaur, Khushwant Kaur, Suresh Rai, Gajjan Singh, Ved Kapoor, Councillor Mohit Kukreja, Davinder Kaur, Mohit Kumar, Mandeep Virdi, Lal Singh, Hatinder Arora, Bhinder Singh, Darshana Arora, Jasbir Kaur, Sohan Lal, Satish Nasra, and Gaurav, along with a large number of students, parents, teachers, and community members were present.
