Condemns Police Violence against farmers
Asks Union Government to come forward for talk with open mind
Chandigarh, February 14:
Calling the police violence against farmers as sheer violation of democratic rights, Punjab Vidhan Sabha Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan said that Genuine demands of farmers should be met and talks should be called with open minded.
Condemning the barricading and fortifying the National Capital, Mr, Sandhwan termed this as a big blow on democracy in which democratic rights of the people grabbed with stick by the authorities. He said that It is regrettable that the Union government allowed the situation to deteriorate to such an extent and no action were taken on the promises made with farmers.
The Speaker said that Modi government is trying to oppress the voice of the farmers after failing to fulfil the promises made to them over the past 10 years. He added that Barbed wire, teargas from drones, nails and guns were tried to contain our own farmers. He said that the days are gone of dictatorship and the democratic governments are for the people not against the people.
