In a major breakthrough, the local police on Wednesday arrested four persons for allegedly indulging in printing and using counterfeit Indian currency in market with seizure of fake currency notes of Rs 5,93,600 from their possession.
Disclosing this here today, the SSP Hoshiarpur Navjot Singh Mahal said that on a tip off the police under SP Investigation Ravinder Pal Singh Sandhu and DSP Jagdish Attri planned to nab the persons indulged in this illegal practice of printing fake currency notes. He said that the SHO police station city Gobinder Kumar and Sub Inspector Pardeep Kumar along with a police party conducted the raid and apprehended them from Tagore Nagar near the Cho.
The accused have been identified as Gursimranjeet Singh alias Baba alias Sodhi resident of village Phambdan, Jagtar Singh of Kila Baroon and Harjinder Bharti of Khanpur in Una district presently residing at Bajwara Kalan, who introduced himself as a reporter of news channel and Amarinder Singh Suraj of Central Town, Hoshiarpur.
Navjot Singh Mahal revealed that the police had seized counterfeit notes of Indian currency worth Rs. 1,40,000 at the time of their arrest while 4,53,600 on their disclosure during further investigation. He said that the police also recovered two digital colour printer, one scanner, one laptop, five tape rolls and two active scooters from their possession. The accused Amarinder Singh along with his three aides started the printing of fake currency and so far they had been printed and used fake currency of Rs 15 lakh in market. Further investigation has been initiated after registration of a FIR u/s 489-A, 489-B, 489-C, 489-D, 34 IPC dated 19-08-2020 at Police Station City, Hoshiarpur.
