Five more Corona deaths in Patiala district , 179 new Positive cases reported

(Jagdeep Chopra) Patiala , August 25.The spread of dreaded Novel Corona Virus disease continous in Patiala district with a pace as on Tuesday five more deaths were confirmed from this district that took total number of deaths to 130 in the district.Whereas 179 new positive cases were also reported with this total Corona patients have rose to 5,232 in the district. On the other hand under Mission Fateh 118 more patients were discharged and sent home after total curing and so total of cured patients have gone upto 3,677. The district now having 1,425 active cases.The Civil Surgeon   Dr. Harish Malhotra giving details this evening here told that out of the five deaths two belonged to Patiala city, one from Samana, one from Shutrana and one from Kauli block and most of them above 60 years of age and patients of chronic Sugar, BP and breathing ailments. They last rites were performed strictly as per Covid-19 guidelines.Whereas giving further details he said that reports of 2,000 samples received today out of which 179 found positives. Out of these 90 belonged to Patiala, 25 to Rajpura, 18 to Nabha, 24 Samana, 4 Patran and 24 to different villages. Out of these 30 belonged to contact tracing of earlier positives, 149 to containment zone and OPD’s with flu symptoms. These includes two policemen and two health workers and all new cases have been put under treatment and admission as per new Covid guiddlines issued by the government.He added that so far a total of 76,058 samples were taken and tested out of these 67,356 found negative, 5,232 positives, 3,677 cured and 130 deaths. He said that today teams have collected 2,350 samples, whereas 3,300 samples reports are sti pending.Dr. Malhotra further claimed that as per data available the recovery rate is  70 percent in the district, 27.5 percent patients under treatment and death rate is just 2.48 percent in the district and urged the people not to panic and come forward in fight against Covid.
