The female staff of the Rural Development and Panchayat Department, Vikas Bhawan enthusiastically celebrated the ‘Teeyan Teej Diyan’ festival, here today.
During this festival, which marks the bounty of nature and the arrival of the monsoon season, the female officers and employees dressed in traditional Punjabi attire and performed giddha and bhangra to the tune of various Punjabi folk songs. The program also included the singing of traditional folk songs and dances performed to the beats of the dhol.
The exhilarating dance performances on Punjabi and Hindi songs mesmerized the onlookers, while the folk songs highlighted the rich cultural heritage of the state.
The event also featured a display of heritage artifacts, including spinning wheels, traditional dresses (lehnga), fulkari, hand-fans and statues depicting women engaged in weaving. These cultural relics were showcased with great finesse, highlighting the rich artistic traditions of the region.
The participants opined that such occasions help in preserving the traditions and cultural diversity of our state and country, while also rejuvenating and generating more enthusiasm towards their routine office work.
