Fatehgarh Sahib, October.19 2020 – The District police have arrested two senior police personnel one of them posted in an anti narcotic cell of the Ludhiana police allegedly for running a drug racket in the State since 2015 and recovered 1 Kg opium and 7 Kg poppy husk and the vehicles purchased from drug money from their custody. During interrogation more drug recoveries are likely to be made.
Addressing the media persons here today SSP Fatehgarh Sahib Amneet Kondal said that during the drive against the drug smugglers police busted a drug racket unfortunately being run by the “ Men in Uniform ”, which is a matter of great concern. She said that under the leadership of Jagjit Singh Jallah SP (Investigation) Khamano police had erected naka near Boparai Dhabha on Chandigarh Ludhiana GT Road at Khamano. She said that about 11PM the police signaled the driver of a Breeza Car number PB-10-HA-0525 to stop but the driver fled away and after chase police overpowered and the driver introduced himself as Navjot Singh senior constable resident of Samrala Ludhiana. She said that during the search of his car police recovered 1Kg opium and 7 Kg poppy husk. She said during preliminary interrogation he revealed that he used to get the supply from his relative Ranbir Singh posted as senior constable in Anti Narcotic Cell of Ludhiana Police. She said that police also arrested him. She said that the name of one more accused identified as Harchand Singh alias Chand has surfaced and police are raiding to arrest him.
She said that during interrogation both the accused police personnel told that they are involved in the sale of drugs since 2015.
SSP said that vehicles a Breeza Car, Bullet MotorCycle, Activa Scooter have been recovered purchased from the drug money. She said that during further interrogation more information is likely to come out.
