Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee is a premier institution in India functioning under the Delhi Sikh Gurdwaras Act, 1971, enacted by the Parliament of India. The Committee is entrusted with the responsibility of management of gurdwaras and sikh religious institutions across Delhi. Beyond its spiritual responsibilities, DSGMC also administers educational institutions, hospitals, old-age homes, libraries, and number of  charitable Institutes.

However, DSGMC role is not confined merely to managing gurdwaras. The DSGMC has consistently remained aggressive in safeguarding and promoting the spiritual, educational, and social values of the sikh faith. DSGMC is a devoted institution, fully committed to the propagation of sikh principles and the effective management of gurdwaras.

To acquaint the younger generation of sikhs with their rich heritage alongside modern education, the DSGMC has been organizing gurmat camps—designed to connect children with sikh history, gurbani, and the rich values of the Guru’s teachings.

During the summer of 2025, the DSGMC launched an impressive awareness campaign across Delhi NCR and several states of India. The primary aim of this initiative was to connect students with gurmat education and inspire students towards the priceless messages of sikhism.

During this aggressive  campaign, over 250 gurmat camps were organized in Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Bihar, and other states, with thousands of students from different schools participating.

Students were imparted education in gurbani recitation and kirtan.Training was provided on correct pronunciation, and participants were given opportunities to learn Kirtan alongside professional Raagi Jathas.

Sikh history and the inspiring lives of great gursikhs and gurus were shared to awaken consciousness in the youth.

The camps instilled values of service (seva), meditation (simran), truthfulness, humility, and ideal living in accordance with sikh principles.

Students engaged in gurmat poetry, Gurbani practice, painting, gurdwara management training, and various creative competitions.

While sharing about the  initiative, Sardar Harmeet Singh Kalka, President of DSGMC, emphasized that  youth are our future, connecting them with their spiritual roots is the foremost agenda of DSGMC. These camps not only provided gurmat education but also infuse a spirit of love, unity, and social responsibility among the younger generation.

He further highlighted that participation this year was greater than in previous years, reflecting the growing inclination of sikh youth towards their faith—an encouraging sign of a bright and promising future for the community.

The Committee has thus proven that by blending modern technology with the timeless wisdom of gurmat, an unshakable seed of sikh faith can be sown in the minds of the youth.

A particularly noteworthy achievement was witnessed in Uttar Pradesh, where discussions of religious conversions had emerged within society. The overwhelming response to DSGMC’s gurmat camps in such regions clearly demonstrated the community’s steadfast commitment to sikhism. Students not only embraced gurbani and sikh way of life but also persuaded their parents to let them spend their summer vacations in gurmat camps rather than holiday resorts.

As a result, this year alone, over 20,000 students enthusiastically participated in 250 gurmat camps organized by the DSGMC.

The resounding success of these camps has been made possible by the dedication of children, parents, singh sabhas, head granthis, granthis, preachers, raagis, dhadis, and Committee members whose collective contributions were invaluable.

One exceptional example was the recognition of a five-year-old participant who had memorized Japji Sahib along with many other banis. In honor of his devotion, the DSGMC announced free education for him up to Grade 12 in Guru Harkrishan Public School, Delhi.

Concluding, Harmeet Singh Kalka stated that DSGMC foremost mission is to spread the divine message of Guru Granth Sahib Ji and ensure that the teachings of our Gurus, meant for the welfare of humanity, reach every household. The magnificent and glorious history of the sikhs must be known to our children and youth. I take pride in the fact that DSGMC holds a unique position globally, for it has never compromised on matters of faith and has always prioritized the propagation of Sikhism.”

Through such dedicated efforts, DSGMC continues to preserve sikh heritage, inspire the younger generation, and ensure that the torch of sikh faith burns brightly for generations to come.
