HOSHIARPUR, AUGUST 1: A young and vibrant Punjab Police Service officer Navjot Singh Mahal on Saturday assumed the charge as Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Hoshiarpur with a resolve to eliminate drugs, crackdown on illegal activities, dealing anti-social elements with heavy hand besides bringing sand mafia to book.
Mahal, who has hitherto been the SSP Jalandhar and earlier also served as SSP Khanna, solicited fulsome support and cooperation from people to end crime and other anti social activities in the district besides further strengthening the police-public relationship. He said that with peoples’ help police could control crime and other illegal activities far more efficaciously.
Listing out priorities after taking over, Navjot Mahal said ensuring prompt redressal of public complaints and speedy justice to aggrieved parties would be one of the foremost priorities. Besides police-public relationship, welfare of police personnel especially in trying circumstances of COVID-19 would be taken care of to further boost their morale to tackle any exigency arising out of the situation. He also pointed out that the functioning of all police stations would also be closely monitored by him to evaluate their performance.
‘We will take full advantage of technology to address public complaints by launching a dedicated mechanism for receiving complaints and time bound redressal amid COVID-19’ added Mahal.
On law and order issue, Mahal said that law & order would be maintained effectively with a focus on crime prevention. The SSP said that the patrolling in the district would be intensified to further keep the crime under check.
Warning the criminals, Mahal said that strict action would be taken against those indulged in unlawful activities and such miscreants would be dealt with an iron hand.
On his arrival at SSP office here, Mahal was warmly welcomed by SP (H) Parminder Singh Heer and other senior Police Officers. The new SSP also took a salute from Punjab Police officials.
Pertinently, recipient of President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Services, Mahal has also been awarded with Chief Minister’s medal for outstanding devotion to duty and DGP’s Commendation Discs for his exemplary and outstanding services.
