Review meeting held with Head Office and Regional Officers to assess performance of schemes and departments
Minister instructed district officials to submit proposals for various schemes within 15 days
Chandigarh, September 25:
Minister of Social Justice, Empowerment and Minorities Dr. Baljit Kaur, convened a review meeting with the head office officials and all district welfare officers to discuss various schemes administered by the department. She directed the officials to ensure that the benefits of these schemes reach the beneficiaries promptly.
In the meeting, the Cabinet Minister discussed into various issues in detail, including the Ashirwad Scheme, Post Matric Scholarship, Adarsh Gram Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Abhiday Yojana, Hostel scheme and the maintenance of Ambedkar Bhawan buildings.
Dr. Baljit Kaur emphasized that the Punjab government, led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, is committed to the welfare of every section of the state, with a special focus on the welfare of the Scheduled Castes. She also highlighted the Post Matric Scholarship Scheme for Scheduled Castes, targeting 2.6 lakh students in the year 2023-24, for which Mission 2.6 is being implemented. She instructed the District Welfare Officers to conduct an awareness campaign to ensure that Scheduled Caste students benefit from this scheme.
The minister instructed district officials to submit proposals for various schemes to the head office within 15 days. Additionally, she urged department officials to effectively implement the department’s schemes to benefit the general public.
During this event, Raj Bahadur Singh, Director-cum-Joint Secretary of the Social Justice, Empowerment and Minorities Department and Joint Director Sarbjinder Singh Randhawa were present at the meeting.
