Patiala, July 16:
As part of the Punjab Government’s state-wide “War Against Drugs” initiative, the second phase of the Nasha Mukti Yatra resumed today in Patiala district. Punjab Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr. Balbir Singh led the campaign by participating in awareness programs held in villages Nawan Fatehpur, Dhanouri, Dhanoura, and Diagarh.
Dr. Balbir Singh emphasized that under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, the Punjab Government is taking revolutionary steps in every sector to realize the vision of a “Rangla Punjab.” As part of these efforts, a comprehensive campaign has been launched to eliminate the menace of drugs from its roots. He said drug addiction is a social curse, and defeating it requires the collective responsibility and participation of every citizen.
The Health Minister administered an anti-drug pledge to the villagers and described the campaign as a fight for the secure future of coming generations. He appealed to village Defense Committees to actively support the government’s initiatives and continuously spread awareness against drug abuse in their communities.
Dr. Balbir Singh also urged villagers to bring individuals struggling with addiction to government-run de-addiction centers, where they are provided free treatment, counseling, rehabilitation, and skill-based training for self-employment.
In the occasion DSP Manoj Gorsi, DDPO Mahinderpal Singh, BDPO Baljit Singh Sohi, Jai Shankar, Harpal Singh Virk, and a large number of local residents also present.
