-DC Orders Immediate Repairs and Cleanliness at Polo Ground
Patiala, June 16:
Deputy Commissioner Dr. Preeti Yadav has sanctioned Rs. 15 lakh for the renovation of the Sports Department’s swimming pool in Patiala, including the upgradation of bathrooms and changing rooms. Chairing a meeting of the District Sports Council today, she directed that the tendering process be completed without delay so that work can begin promptly.
Taking serious note of deficiencies in the roof repair work at the Gymnasium Hall in Polo Ground, Dr. Preeti Yadav sought an explanation from the concerned officials. She made it clear that any negligence in providing quality facilities to sportspersons would not be tolerated. Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Ms. Isha Singhal and Additional Deputy Commissioner (Urban Development) Ms. Navreet Kaur Sekhon were also present during the meeting.
Dr. Preeti Yadav emphasized the importance of providing athletes with world-class infrastructure to help them prepare for national and international competitions. She added that it is the responsibility of the Sports Department to ensure a professional and encouraging environment for all players.
She also issued strict instructions to immediately carry out cleanliness and maintenance work at Raja Bhalinder Singh Sports Complex (Polo Ground), noting that not only athletes but a large number of local residents visit the area daily for morning and evening exercise. She directed that public washrooms be kept clean and safe drinking water arrangements be ensured.
Addressing the coaches of various sports, Dr. Preeti Yadav urged them to pay special attention to the needs of the athletes and to make them aware of the facilities and support available under Punjab Government initiatives. During the meeting, she also reviewed progress on the development of sports grounds in villages through a virtual interaction with all SDMs of the district. Present at the meeting were AEO Daljit Singh and coaches Rajpal Singh, Harmanpreet Singh, and Ajay Kumar.
