Deadline for filing income tax returns extended

Delhi, October 24, 2020: The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) said in a statement that, ‘For taxpayers for whom the deadline for filing income tax returns was 31 July 2020 before the extension, the deadline has been extended to 31 December 2020. Similarly, taxpayers whose accounts need to be audited and whose deadline was earlier 31 October 2020 can now file ITR by 31 January 2021. The CBDT said that the deadline has been extended to allow taxpayers more time to fill the ITR.
